There are 3 ways to sharpen a knife.

  • Honing with whetstone
  • Honing with a grinder
  • Sharpen With a Sharpening Steel.

Some rigorous chef love to sharpen their knives before they cook, this will help to keep the knives sharp. Anyway, most mom don’t do it:P we only sharpen our knife when the knife is dull. But once you leave the trick how to sharpen the knife, it’s only take 5 seconds.

Well, one thing to note here is Japanese Knives are only sharpen on the whetstone and should never be ground on a wheel or sharpen with sharpening steel.
